Christa Winkels
Christa (she/her) is a creative arts psychotherapist and social worker with over 10 years’ experience in mental health and community-based settings. Christa is passionate about centering lived expertise and experience, and works hard to build trust and safety in the therapeutic relationship. She holds a particular passion for supporting people who are looking to feel more wholeness, ease, pleasure and connection within themselves and in relationships.
Christa approaches therapy in an integrative and relational way, working collaboratively to draw on a range of theories and approaches that meet individual needs and ways of processing. Christa is particularly interested in creative, somatic and movement-based therapies to nurture trust, safety, curiosity, playfulness, meaning-making, and self-expression. She also utilises neurobiological understandings of trauma, attachment theory, and polyvagal/nervous system perspectives. Christa's practice is trauma sensitive, sex work inclusive, and LGBTQIA+ affirming.

She is also a certified Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator, yoga and movement facilitator, and EMDR practitioner.
Other frameworks that Christa is informed by include: IFS (Internal Family Systems), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, mindfulness and somatic practices, narrative therapies, and anti-oppressive and intersectional feminist lenses.
