Erin Immel
As an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, I offer one-on-one support around a variety of challenges, including depression, anxiety, self-esteem and self-confidence issues, major life transitions, grief and loss and parenting difficulties. I am a strong LGBTIQ+ ally, and I have extensive experience in working in schools, with culturally and linguistically diverse clients and supporting those facing family violence.
I approach mental health through a systems theory lens - that is, we as individuals are impacted by the many different systems around us, and our thoughts, feelings and behaviours are a direct result of these systems. Relationships - with others and with ourselves - are key to a rich life experience, and in therapy we can unpack together what's helping, hindering and potentially harming you.
Areas of specialisation
I am trained in and utilise a variety of focussed psychological strategies, including:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Motivational Interviewing (MI)
- General problem solving, relaxation strategies and stress management
- I work with both adolescent (ages 14+) and adult clients.
I am able to provide a Medicare rebate to clients with a GP referral.
