I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and Gestalt Psychotherapist, Gestalt trainer and clinical supervisor. I work with individual adults and couples to increase awareness and choicefulness. My work is a combination of Gestalt Therapy, Emotionally Focussed Therapy, somatic and parts work, mindfulness, experiential process and cultivating awareness and self-compassion. In therapy we will explore how habitual ways of relating and responding keep you stuck in old patterns, and experiment with new ways of making meaning from experience and relating to self and others. Through this process genuine and lasting growth and change occurs. This process is undertaken with a balance of support and challenge, and is tailored to each client’s particular needs.
I have many years experience working with people with various mental health diagnoses and recent and historical experiences of trauma, and I utilise a range of therapeutic approaches to resolve symptoms that are causing distress. However, I am interested in the whole person and I see mental health or neurodiverse diagnoses as one (important) part of the whole person. I therefore work collaboratively with clients to co-create each person’s unique mix of therapeutic processes depending upon their needs. This can include EMDR or CBT approaches when indicated. Many of my clients have tried more clinically focussed and prescriptive therapies and found that they need something more relational and collaborative to achieve their therapeutic goals.
In supervision I utilise the Relational Matrix Model of supervision that attends to the complex relationships between the clinician, the client and the context in which the work takes place to support reflection and growth. Individual and group supervision is available both online and in person.
I work at Lygon Therapy on Wednesday afternoon and evening and have another location in the North Eastern suburbs.
